Engineering Manager

Job Description

The Engineering Manager is responsible for the design and development of both new and existing products. The position oversees an engineering organization consisting of electronic, mechanical, software, and quality assurance engineers as well as a supporting staff. The position requires both technical and personnel oversight in the development of cutting edge audio/video products.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the activities of the technical development teams to ensure that each of the teams is on track to meet product development goals. Work with team leaders to develop realistic schedules for assigned development tasks.  Track progress against schedules to ensure that the products enter the production process in a timely manner, consistent with the needs of Sales and Marketing.
  • Interface with the sales and marketing departments to coordinate product design and development with the needs of our customers.
  • Hold regular departmental meetings and promote an environment conducive to free exchange of information and flow of ideas.
  • Monitor project progress and communicate status of issues and concerns to the project teams and to Senior Management.
  • Assure that adequate specifications and documentation are developed and maintained for all projects. Forecast and allocate resources as required to achieve project schedules.
  • Initiate and lead efforts in the creation and development of development processes, procedures, and guidelines suitable to the needs of the Company.
  • Function as a staff specialist/technical advisor for assigned area of responsibility and expertise.
  • Develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of video/audio electronic technology as it pertains to our product lines.
  • Develop and maintain a good understanding of the needs of our customers to better work with Sales & Marketing to define the direction for new products.
